Lorie E. Collins, 80, of New Philadelphia, Ohio went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 25, 2008.
Lorie was born March 23, 1928 in Midvale, Ohio, the daughter of the late Harry C. and Laura Elizabeth (VanFossen) Jenkins.
She was a clerical employee at the Tuscarawas County Courthouse for many years. She also was a former secretary at Monroe Mall in New Philadelphia.
She was a graduate of Midvale High School Class of 1946. She attended the First Church of the Nazarene at New Philadelphia. She was a homemaker and devoted mother and grandmother. She also enjoyed gardening and was a good neighbor and friend to all that knew and loved her. Her lovely smile and sweet demeanor will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She enjoyed her shopping excursions with her neighbor and friend, Tootie Heid.
Lorie was preceded in death by her husband, George Donald (Don) Collins who died in 1974. They were married in 1958. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Lucille Johns and four brothers, Harry Jenkins, John Jenkins, Earl Jenkins, and Carl Jenkins.
Lorie is survived by two daughters, Kathy Collins (Chris Zuchegno) of New Philadelphia and Cynthia Robinson (Frank Pietro) of Dover; her stepson, Ron Collins of Mineral City; five grandchildren, Nathan Zuchegno, Shane Robinson (Britt Ball), Shiloh Robinson (Cortney Allender), Ciara and Phoenix Mackey; three step grandchildren, Natalie, Emily, and Brian Collins; a great grandson, Raiden Robinson along with two step great grandchildren; three sisters, Leona Johns and Elizabeth Jenkins both of New Philadelphia, Belva Squires of Mt. Vernon, Ohio and a brother, Gene (Doris) Jenkins of Roswell.
Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Wednesday from 6-8pm. Private services will be conducted Thursday with interment in the East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene, 233 Fair Ave. N.E., New Philadelphia or one's favorite charity.
