Louis Edward "Slick" Saki of Dover (formerly Quaker City, Ohio) went home to be with his Saviour and his beloved wife Mary on April 5, 2015. Born March 21, 1925 in Uniontown, Ohio Louis recently celebrated his 90th birthday with a card shower hearing from many family and friends. Louis served his country in WWII and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. After his service he returned home and found the love of his life Mary Repan. They married on October 5, 1946 and celebrated 60 years of marriage before Mary's death in 2007. They were blessed with four daughters; Nancy Jean Ancell of Cambridge, Ohio, Janet Sue Bowen of Parkville, Missouri, Carole (Pat) Antonelli and Mary Jo (Butch) Fox of Dover, Ohio.
He was a 33 year retiree of the East Ohio Gas Company now Dominion Resources, but his true love was farming which he did part-time throughout his life. After watching Gene Autry as a young man, he taught himself to play guitar and entertained many at social events and family functions. He especially loved playing and singing hymns at church. He was the song leader for many years at the Quaker City Baptist Church, of which he was a charter member.
He is survived by his four daughters, seven grandchildren; Ed (Felicity) Ancell, Kim Ancell David (Robin) Ancell, Kerry (Tom) Clayton, Bryan (Kristen) Ancell of Cambridge, Ohio Shelly (Rich) Dessecker of Moorestown, NJ and Sherry (Brandon) Hunter of Goodyear, AZ, and 16 great-grandchildren; three sisters; Marie Kuba of St. Clairsville, Ohio, Doris Brown of Pflugerville, Texas and Kaye Moore of Bedford, Ohio.
Louis was preceded in death by his wife Mary Repan Saki, parents Louis E. Saki, Sr and Mary Conaway. Four brothers, John, Paul, Albert and Thomas Saki, two sisters Emma Riley, Ethel Barkan, and two sons-in-law Orville (Junior) Ancell and Fredrick Bowen.
There will be a celebration of Louis's life on Saturday, April 11th at the Trinity Baptist Church 1360 Highland Avenue, Cambridge, OH at 1:00 p.m. with a dinner immediately following at Theo's Restaurant at 632 Wheeling Ave, Cambridge, Ohio. Louis will be cremated and his remains will be interred with this wife in Union Cemetery at St. Clairsville, Ohio at a private family graveside service at a later date. Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover.
