Louis K. Bachie, 68, of Gnadenhutten, Ohio passed away Sunday, October 15, 2006 at 11am in the Country Club Retirement Center in Dover following a 3month illness.
He was born in Barton, Ohio on April 21, 1938, a son of the late Kalman and Laura Kuhn Bachie.
Louis was a 21 year veteran of the United States Army serving in Berlin Germany, Alaska, Washington, Georgia and Viet Nam. He received numerous commendations for his service and heroism. He was an avid outdoorsman having loved to hunt and fish.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers; John, Mike, Steve and Ernest Bachie and three sisters, Elizabeth Bachie, Rose Fodor, and Margaret Barker.
He is survived by his former wife, Shirley Bachie and his daughter, Sherry (Robert) Gutensohn of Gnadenhutten; grandsons, Michael P. Gutensohn of Cleveland and Daniel I. Gutensohn of New Philadelphia and a sister, Irene (John) Clutter of North Olmsted.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 17, 2006 at 2pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover with Pastor Tom Klasner officiating. Interment will be in the Gnaden Clay Union Cemetery where the Dover VFW will conduct military graveside services. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12:30pm to 2pm.
