Louis P. Dalpiaz, 92, of Dover died Tuesday, October 25, 2016 in the Community Hospice, Truman House following a period of declining health.
Born March 2, 1924 in Uhrichsville he was a son of the late Gervasio "Jerry" and Louise Bartolis Dalpiaz. Louis was also preceded in death by four brothers, Raymond, Archie, John and Albert; sister, Pauline White; daughter in law, Linda Dalpiaz and granddaughter, Stephanie Dalpiaz
Louis graduated from Uhrichsville High School and proudly served his country during WW II with the United States Army. He was employed as a Service Manager at Cummins Diesel in Strasburg, having retired in 1987 after 36 years of service. He was a long time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Dover VFW.
Louis is survived by his wife of 65 years, Helen Davis Dalpiaz, whom he married on May 19, 1951; children, Louis (Vicki) Dalpiaz, Judy (Greg) Swope, Jeff Dalpiaz, Jay (Kathy) Dalpiaz all of Dover, Kay (Gary) Compton and Ken (Bobbi) Dalpiaz of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, Lori (Brian) Kutcher, Luke (Amanda) Dalpiaz, Angelica Compton and her husband, John Igrec, Aaron Compton, Adam Compton, Mackenzie Dalpiaz, Max and Julia Swope; great grandchildren, Leah and Landon Kutcher, Dominic Dalpiaz and Theodore Igrec; brother in law, Floyd (Marge) Davis of Goshen; sister in law, Shirley Davis of Tuscarawas; step grandchild, Blake Bitticker; step great grandchild, Jordan Bitticker and many close friends and wonderful nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday, October 28 at 10:30 am in the St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Jimmy Hatfield officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia where the Dover VFW will conduct military graveside services. Friends can call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover on Thursday from 5-7 pm with Christian wake services starting at 6:45.
