Louis W. Kendle, 87, of Dover died Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at Union Hospital.
Born August 12, 1929 in Dover he was a son of the late Norman and Margaret Grove Kendle. Louis was also preceded in death by his brothers, Charlie and Paul Kendle and three great grandsons.
He retired in 1991 from Columbia Fire Brick after 36 years of service. Following his retirement, he worked for Zedmark. Louis was a 4-H advisor and a member of the Dover Eagles. He loved to farm his land, and in his spare time he enjoyed hunting and making homemade wine for his family and friends.
A wonderful and loving husband, father and grandfather, Louis will be sadly missed by his wife of 67 years, Dolly Mae Renicker Kendle, whom he married on March 25, 1949; children, Martha (David) Wigfield of New Philadelphia, Gerald "Bud" (Mary Ann) Kendle of Mineral City, Wayne (Elaine) Kendle of Navarre, Tim (Tammie) Kendle of Newcomerstown, Lois (Jim) McKinney of New Philadelphia; sisters, Elnora McNutt of Mineral City, Betty Fickes of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, Troy, Gerald "Bucky", Todd, Shannon, Becky, Jason, Travis, Tricia and Tonya; six great grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, three step-great grandchildren and was anxiously awaiting the arrival of his twin great grandchildren within the month. Louis is also survived by many nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Luke.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 5, at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Pastor Florence Fellers-McNutt officiating. Interment will be at the Dover Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 5-7 pm.
