Louise E. Mcgowan

Louise E. McGowan, 82, of New Philadelphia died peacefully, holding her daughters hands, in her home on Wednesday morning, Dec. 3, 2014 after fighting a dignified battle with health issues.

Louise was a retired employee of the creative department at the Times Reporter following 13 years of service. She began her career at Royal Blue in Chicago where she met the love of her life, Robert H. McGowan and were united in marriage on May 30, 1953 and celebrated 59 years of marriage. Robert preceded her in death on Oct. 5, 2012. She was also previously employed as a switchboard operator for Gray Bar Electric in Chicago.

Born March 28, 1932 in Chicago, she was the daughter of the late Vanner and Evelyn (Thomas) Shogren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded by two sisters, Corinne Marek and Fern Olszewski.

Louise was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in New Philadelphia and the New Philadelphia VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She loved shopping for great deals, spending time with her family and enjoyed being in the warmth of Fort Myers, Florida. Louise dad would always say "When Louise smiles, the whole room lights up."

She will be sadly missed by her family including her two daughters Debbie Aubihl (Jim) Knisely and Denise (Mark) Murray both of New Philadelphia; six grandchildren, Wes (Laura) Aubihl, Evan (Heather) Aubihl, Joe, Jake, Jenna, and Justin Murray; a sister, Sandra (Richard) Fast of Lyons, Illinois and a brother, Conrad (Bernie) Shogren of Rockford, Illinois along with many nieces and nephews.

Fr. Jeff Coning will officiate a private funeral mass in the Sacred Heart Church in New Philadelphia. There are no calling hours.
