Lucille V. Penn, 92, of the Smithville Western Care Center and formerly of Stucky Drive, Dover, Ohio died Saturday, October 2, 1999 in the center following an extended illness.

She retired in 1972, as librarian for Claymont school and was also formerly a librarian for Conotton Valley High School.

Born September 2, 1907 in Uhrichsville, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Roy B. and Lillian Schneider VanLehn.

Lucille was a member of the First Moravian Church in Dover and the Morning Star Circle.  She graduated Phi Beta Kappa From Ohio University in 1930 and attended Kent State University for her post graduate work.  She was also a 1925 graduate of Uhrichsville High School.  She founded the Bowerston Public Library in 1935 and was President of the board for 50 years.  She enjoyed reading, growing roses, and playing bridge.

She was preceded in death by her husband William O. (Bill) Penn who died July 9, 1999.

She is survived by two daughters and sons in law  Judy and Paul Mallonn of Wooster and Janet and Joe Schroeder of Glenview, Illinois

Four grandchildren  Brad Schroeder, Penn Mallonn and his fiancee Kim Crane, Elizabeth & John Anderluh, Christie and Clay Hausman

Three great grandchildren  Megan, Shea, and Jamie Anderluh

One Sister  Ethel Parker of Salem, OH
One Brother Robert (Ruth) VanLehn of West End, North Carolina

She was preceded in death by one brother, Harold VanLehn.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999 at 2:00 PM in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover with Pastor Allen Bergmann officiating.  Interment will be in the Longview Cemetery at Bowerston.  Friends can call at the funeral home Tuesday from 1:00 to 2:00 PM.
