Lyman E. "Sonny" Brokaw

Lyman E. “Sonny” Brokaw, 89, of New Philadelphia passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 in the Community Hospice Truman House.

Born on March 3, 1932 in Union Township, Tuscarawas County, Ohio he was a son of the late Lyman H. and Corella Dunn Brokaw. He was also preceded in death by his wife Ann Brokaw on May 10, 1997; six sisters and seven brothers.

He was an owner and operator of his own truck, having driven for Edwards Trucking in Strasburg and Kimble’s for many years. Lyman was a dedicated member of Roxford United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee. He never met a stranger, and took great joy in talking with people and also helping anyone in need. He was also a veteran of the United States Army.

Lyman is survived by his children, Teresa (David) Metheny of Massillon, Rick (Deidra Abbott) Brokaw of West Virginia, Charles (Karen) Drennen of Bolivar; eight grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Private family services will be held with interment in the Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg. The Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Strasburg is handling arrangements.
