Lynn Denise Smith, 55, who resided at the Hennis Care Centre in Bolivar for the past two years and a lifelong resident of Strasburg died Sunday, January 3, 2010 following complications from pneumonia.
Born August 6, 1954 in Dover, she was the daughter of Betty Dodge Smith of Strasburg and the late Edwin J. Smith.
Lynn attended Starlight School and Workshop for over 47 years. She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Strasburg. She was a dog lover and enjoyed music and Big Time Wrestling and was an Elvis Presley and Hulk Hogan fan.
In addition to her mother, Lynn is survived by three sisters, Stephanie (husband, Edward) Yackey of Strasburg, Eddae Jeanne (husband, Victor) Gatling of Graham, North, Carolina and Yvonne (husband, Joe) Plummer of Winterhaven, Florida; nieces and nephews Carla (Paul) Schauer, Kyle (Mary) Yackey, Kendra (Dave) Wolgamott, Kara (Sean) Dooley, Vijay Karode, Nathaniel Gatling, Stephen (Julie) Plummer, Ryan (Chandra) Plummer, Wendy Plummer, Christian (Heather) Plummer and Natalie (Darryl)McSwain along with a plethora of great nieces and great nephews.
A celebration of Lynn's life will be held Thursday, January 7, 2010 at 11am in the St. John United Church of Christ at Strasburg with Rev. Gary Friend officiating. Interment will be in the Grandview Union Cemetery. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Strasburg on Wednesday from 2-6pm and at the church Thursday from 10-11am.
