M. Faye Ranft, 97, of Hennis Care Centre, Dover, and a long-time resident of E. High Ave., New Philadelphia, died Wednesday, Mar. 29, 2006.
Born Jan. 25, 1909, in Union Twp.,
Tuscarawas Co., Faye was a daughter of the
late Ernest and Ethel Roby LeMasters. She attended Sunnyvale School, and later, New Philadelphia schools. On Jun. 8, 1927, she married Earl Ranft in New Philadelphia. Earl passed away in 1966.
Faye was a homemaker, and, along with her late sister, Nellie Walton, was a well-known local wallpaper hanger. She also was
employed by the former Belmont Stamp & Enameling Co., for a number of years by The Times-Reporter, and was a precinct worker for the Tuscarawas County Board of Elections.
Faye was one of the oldest members of the First Baptist Church of New Philadelphia, where she belonged to the church's former Golden Circle Fellowship. She was also a member of the AARP. Some of Faye�(TM)s favorite pastimes were quilting, playing Argentina Canasta and going bowling.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews, including, Betty Lanzer and her
husband, James, of Sherrodsville, Richard Walton and his wife, Jeanie, of Hilliard, and Catherine Cole and her husband, Neal, of Dover; many great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, her beloved husband Earl, and her sister, Nellie, Faye was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Leggett, and by three brothers, Paul, Jasper and Wayne LeMasters.
Faye�(TM)s life will be celebrated in a service Saturday, Apr. 1, at 11 a.m., in the
Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, 246 E. High Ave., New Philadelphia. Pastor Mark Trotter will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Burial Park, New Philadelphia. Following the committal, there will be a luncheon in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard in Dover.
