Margaret A. Arbogast, 85, of Dover died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014 at the Community Hospice House following a period of declining health.
Margaret retired from the City of Dover where she served as the former Secretary to Mayor Richard Homrighausen and former Mayor Guy Smith. She was also previously employed at Joy Mfg. Co., Production Credit, J.C. Penney's and the Dover Public Library.
Margaret was born July 27, 1928 in Dover and raised in New Philadelphia. She was the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Anna B. (Sirrey) Wright. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Billy Wright and Robert Wright; brothers in law, Dwaine Arbogast and Calvin Sauser; and sisters in law, Evelyn Sauser and Iris Wright.
Margaret was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Dover , Glowing Embers, Lois Circle, and the United Methodist Women. She was also previously active in the Dover Mothers Club and following retirement, she was a volunteer at Union Hospital. Her greatest love was spending time with her family that included her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, traveling with friends and entertaining. Margaret was an avid Dover Tornado, Ohio State Buckeye, and Cleveland sports fan.
She will be sadly missed by her family including her husband of 64 years, William "Bill" Arbogast who she married on Aug. 31, 1949; three children, David (Joan) Arbogast of Stow, Becky (Lloyd) Crilow of Sugarcreek and Greg (Jennie) Arbogast of Dover; eight grandchildren, Michael (Laura) Arbogast, Kevin Arbogast, Katie Arbogast, Ryan (Kari) Crilow, Eric Crilow, Faith Arbogast, Leigh Arbogast, and Julianna Arbogast; two great grandchildren, Reese and Will Crilow; a sister, Mary (Chuck) Aubihl of Newcomerstown; a brother, Dean (Bonnie) Wright of New Philadelphia; sisters in law Marilyn Arbogast of Stonecreek and Elaine Wright of Ft. Myers, Florida.
A celebration of Margaret's life will be held Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014 beginning at 11am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover with Rev. David Kowaleski officiating. A reception will follow the services at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center in Dover. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5-8pm. Cremation will take place and she will be privately laid to rest in the Dover Burial Park.
