Margaret A. Bucher, 86, of New Philadelphia, died unexpectedly Friday, Mar. 12, 2010, at the Country Club Retirement Campus in Dover, where she was recuperating following a fall.
Born on Independence Day, 1923, Margaret was a daughter of the late Henry and Agnes B. Knisely Miles. She was a descendant of John Knisely, founder of New Philadelphia. Margaret graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1941, and, on Dec. 30, 1945, was wed to Earl A. Bucher in Emmanuel Lutheran Church, New Philadelphia, where she was a life-long member.
Margaret was a homemaker �" a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was also employed in her later years by Montgomery Ward in Dover. In addition to her Emmanuel Lutheran Church membership, Margaret was a life member of the Lady Elks of B.P.O.E. 510 in New Philadelphia. She enjoyed travel and had fond memories of trips to Mackinac Island, Biltmore House in Asheville, NC, and Colonial Williamsburg, among others.
Survivors include her husband, Earl; daughter, Carol Ann Porter of Dover; granddaughter, Jennifer (Duane) Vickers of New Philadelphia; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Helen and William Goudy; and sister-in-law, Gladys Bucher.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, 246 E. High Ave., New Philadelphia, on Sunday, Mar. 14, 5 �" 7 p.m. Emmanuel Lutheran Church Council will conduct services at 6:45. Pastor Stephen L. Patrick will officiate Margaret's funeral ceremony on Monday, Mar. 15, at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Burial Park, New Philadelphia. Following the committal, there will be a luncheon in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard in Dover.
