Margaret H. Mitchell, 86, of Connellsville, Pennsylvania, formerly of Sugarcreek, Ohio, died Wednesday, February 1, 2006, in Uniontown Hospital, Uniontown, Pennsylvania, following a short illness.
Born March 22, 1919, in Coatbridge, Scotland, she was the only child of the late John and Ann Murdoch Marshall. Margaret graduated in 1937 from the Chauncey-Dover High School, Chauncey, Ohio.
After emigrating with her parents from Scotland in 1926, Margaret was a longtime resident of Southeast and Northeast Ohio until moving to Western Pennsylvania in 1991.
Margaret and her husband, the Rev. Aubrey N. Mitchell, pastored Churches of God in Fredericktown, Corning, Black Run, and Sugarcreek, Ohio for some 37 years. She spent many years teaching Sunday School and ministering through music.
After pastoral ministry, she was employed at the former Montgomery Ward�(TM)s store in Dover, Ohio. Then she was employed by Middaugh Enterprises of Sugarcreek, in their gift shops until 1991 at the age of 72.
Margaret is survived by her loving children, a son, the Rev. Norman E. (Marla) Mitchell of Darlington, South Carolina; a son, John A. (Carol) Mitchell of Anderson, Indiana; a daughter, the Rev. Kay Ann (Russ) Kurtz of Dover, just recently of Connellsville; her precious eight grandchildren, Greg (Lisa) Mitchell of Erie, Pennsylvnia; Keith (Angie) Mitchell of Bellview, Florida; Marsha (Mike) Estermeyer of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania; Sheri (Greg) Dotson of Ocoee, Florida; Shandra (Jeff) Holbrook of Louisville, Kentucky; Shellie (Shawn) Green of Noblesville, Indiana; Doug (Lynn) Immel of New Philadelphia; Mitchell (Sara) Immel of Dover; and nine great-grandchildren; two dear cousins, Nancy Barr of Glasgow, Scotland, and William Marshall of Hinckley, Ohio.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Aubrey, in 1978; an infant daughter, Joyce Ellen Mitchell, and an infant grandson, Theodore Garrison Immel, Jr.
Visitation will be Friday, February 3, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, 246 East High Ave., New Philadelphia, Ohio, with the funeral being Saturday, February 4, at 2:00 p.m., at the First Church of God, 824 Tuscarawas Ave. NW, New Philadelphia, with the Rev. Jeff Matas and the Rev. Robert Mathis officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens, Dover. The family will host a meal in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center, 831 Boulevard, Dover.
