“The Candy Lady” Margaret L. “Monie Lou” Gibbs, 77, of 403 W. 11th St. Dover, passed away Monday, January10, 2000 in the Park Village Health Care Center at Dover.
She was owner/operator of the family business – the Eiler Candy store at Dover, where she had managed for 63 years.
Born October 9, 1922 at Dover, she was a daughter of the late Henry J. & Anna Obermiller Eiler.
Monie Lou was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church at Dover.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard C. Gibbs, who died April 30, 1986.
Survivors include:
A daughter Mrs. Doug (Mary Ann) Farmer of Dover
Son John H. Gibbs of Dover
2 sisters Mary Francis Prince and Dorothy Soulsby, both of Dover
2 granddaughters Melissa & Christina Farmer
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Norman Eiler & sister, Rosemarie Eiler.
A funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, January 14, at 10:30am in the St. Joseph Catholic Church at Dover with Fr. William Arnold officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery at Dover. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral home in Dover on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9pm, where Christian Wake services will be held at 8:30pm.
