Margaret L. Reed

Margaret L. “Peggy” Reed, 61, of New Philadelphia, died Sunday, Jul. 9, 2006, in Union Hospital, Dover, from cancer, a disease she had courageously battled for one year.

Born Jul. 27, 1944, in New Philadelphia, Peggy was a daughter of Margaret Reidle Betz of Canton, and the late Harry Betz. Peggy was employed for twenty-five years as a nurse�(TM)s aide by Colonial Manor in New Philadelphia.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, New Philadelphia, and was a social member of the Tuscarawas post of the V.F.W., where she volunteered at various post events. She was a fan of the Cleveland Indians and collected their memorabilia. Peggy also enjoyed collecting all types of bells.

Survivors include two daughters, Valeria Vance of Bowerston, and Sheilla Vance of New Philadelphia; a son, Jeffery Vance of Uhrichsville; nine grandchildren, Travis, Rachael, Michael, Samantha, Logan, Kelsey, Dakota, Alyssa and Hayden; two sisters, Betty Morrison of Canton, and Mary (Rick) Daley of West Jefferson; nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Ladie.

In addition to her father, Peggy was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Vance; and two brothers, Richard and Harry “Dean” Betz.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, 246 E. High Ave., New Philadelphia, on Wednesday, Jul. 12, 5 �" 8 p.m. Cremation will follow the visitation, and a graveside service will be held Thursday, Jul. 13, at 2 p.m. in East Avenue Cemetery, New Philadelphia.
