Margaret L. Zifer, 92, of the Country Club Retirement Center and formerly of Jaycee St., New Philadelphia died Wednesday, March 26, 2008 in the center.
Born November 7, 1915 in Dover, she was the daughter of the late George and Vernice (Dunlap) Geyer.
Margaret was a member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Dover. She was also involved in the Dover VFW Auxiliary. She attended St. Joseph School. Margaret's life centered around her large family and she enjoyed every minute with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael J. Zifer who died March 28, 1972. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded by her son and daughter in law, Robert and Polly Zifer, son in law, Ron Cihon, a sister, Lillian Larke, an infant grandson and a niece, Betty Jean Clark.
She is survived by eight children Joanne (Hugh) McClelland of New Philadelphia, George "Sonny" (Carol) Zifer of Dover, Audrey (Dennis) Barr of New Philadelphia, Shirley (Richard) Ernest of Dover, Lois (Andy) Wells of Dover, Ron "Shiney" Zifer of Columbus, Tom (Anita) Zifer of Manteca, California, and Angela Harris of Dover; twenty five grandchildren, Blanche (James) Myers, Roanne (William) Haakinson, Deborah (William) Graves, Andrew (Linda) Cihon, David (Carol) Cihon, Steve (Christine) Cihon, Lori (Mike) Dapoz, Michael (Susan) Zifer, Cara (Keith) Shumaker, Christopher (Tara) Barr, Teresa Barr, Jodi (Matt) Webb, Kathlene (Charles) Morris, Kimberly Ernest, Michael (Elizabeth) Ernest, Michelle Andrews, Anthony (Miriam) Zifer, Kevin Green, Robert Zifer, Vanessa Zifer, Jessica Zifer, Jaclyn Zifer, Alexis Zifer, Lindsey Harris and Seth Harris. She is also survived by thirty two great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren and a sister, Betty Youngen of Dover.
The Rite of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 1:30pm in the St. Joseph's Catholic Church at Dover with Fr. William Arnold officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery at Dover. A reception will follow in the St. Joseph's Family Life Center. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Friday from 5-8pm where a Rosary will be held at 7:45pm.
