Marion Rini, 84, of Dover passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Union Hospital.
Born October 10, 1929 in Dover he was a son of the late Ignatius and Mamie Gaglione Rini. Marion was also preceded in death by his brothers, Ignatius "Fred", Martin, Tony and Frank Rini; sisters, Laura Dattilo and Mary Strazisar; nephew, Bill Rini
Marion graduated from Dover High School in 1947. He then joined the Air Force in 1950, was a Cryptographer for Headquarters Command at the Pentagon and at Ladd Air Force Base in Fairbanks, Alaska during the Korean War. Following his service to our country he continued his education having graduated from Kent State University in 1957 and received his Masters in History in 1961. He taught in Dover, Canton South and Tallmadge School District, served as Principal for the Garaway elementary and Jr. High and finally retired as Principal from Perry Local Schools in 1983. After retirement, he continued his place in education by substitute teaching in Stark County and at Dover City Schools. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he was a lector and usher; Knights of Columbus, Dover American Legion and the Hall of Fame Chorus in Canton for many years.
He is survived by his sons, Todd Rini of Dover, Dan Rini and Scott Rini both of North Canton; daughter, Andrea Rini of Massillon; sister, Lena Eaton of Wisconsin and nine grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday, July 25 at 10:30 am in the St. Joseph Catholic Church at Dover with Fr. Jimmy Hatfield officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery at Dover. Friends can call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at 803 N Wooster Ave. Dover on Thursday from 5-8 pm with Christian Wake services starting at 7:45.
