Marjorie S. "Marge" Auman

November 8, 1935 — April 23, 2024

Dover

Marjorie (Marge) S. Auman, age 88, a lifelong resident of Dover, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, in Dover’s Park Village Healthcare Center.

Born November 8, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Guy and Myrtle Stealey. Marge attended grade school in Dover and went on to graduate from Dover High School in 1953. She married Dean E. Auman (who preceded her in death), on July 25, 1954.

Marge was not the stay at home Mom type and held down a full time job ever since her early years of marriage. She worked at numerous clerical jobs starting at Invincible in 1962, moving on to Joy Manufacturing and finally as Executive Secretary at Dover Chemical where she retired in 2008.

Marge loved her family and she loved horses. Marge adopted two Appaloosa mares in the early 1970s when a local farmer could no longer care for them. This stoked a lifelong passion Marge had for trail riding, which she and Dean enjoyed well into their late 70s. Marge and Dean were founding members of the Buckeye Trail Riders and members of the Ohio Horseman’s Council for over 20 years. The couple made many good friends through their years with the BTR and OHC. Marge was also a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Dover and the American Business Women's Association.

She will be dearly missed by her children, Susie (Bill) Rice of Monroeville, Pennsylvania, and Terry Auman of Dover; her grandchildren, Lynn (Nick Grigorovich) Rice and Leslie (Christopher) Hirgelt; her great-grandson, Ian Hirgelt; nephews Erik Stealey and Gregory Stealey and her sister-in-law, Julia Phillips

Family and friends are invited to remember and celebrate Marge’s life on Tuesday, April 30th from 5-7pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover. A private service will be held with burial of her cremated remains in Evergreen Burial Park, New Philadelphia.

In lieu of flowers you may choose to make a charitable donation in Marge’s name to the Dover Exchange Club, PO Box 267, Dover, Ohio
