Mark G. Mitchell, 53, of Mineral City, died Sunday, September 17, 2006 in Union Hospital.
Born January 25, 1953 at Dover, he was the son of the late Paul & F. Ruth Gordon Mitchell.
He was a 1971 graduate of Dover High School, and a proud member of the Marching Tornado Band. He went on to graduate from Kent State University with a degree in Art Education.
Mark had worked as night auditor for area hotels such as the former Delphian Inn and Days Inn at New Philadelphia, but it was his activities outside of work that defined his character and allowed him to express his creativity.
Many would remember Mark as the lifeblood of the Little Theatre of Tuscarawas County, a driving force that had helped the theater flourish for the last 15 years. Advocate, supporter, director, actor, set designer, and so many others, but titles or positions could not fully tell how much he meant to the Little Theatre - or how much it meant to him. He was a recipient of the Theatre(TM)s Marquee Award for achievement and service. He was also a founding member of the 'Get a Clue' murder mystery troupe.
In addition to his parents, and a brother, Paul, his loving wife, Linda L. Wallick Mitchell, who died March 7, 2000, preceded him in death.
Survivors include: a son, Michael (Lauren) Mitchell of Columbus; a brother, John Mitchell of Dover; mother-in-law and step-father in-law, Pat (Lawless) Wallick-Jeansonne and Dan Jeansonne of Dover; a sister-in-law, Laurie (Charlie) Brown of Dover; a brother-in-law Cary (Caroline) Jeansonne of Akron; and many nieces and nephews. His longtime friend and companion of the last five years, Sheri Patterson, with whom he resided, also survives him.
Family and friends are invited to an informal gathering where memories of Mark will be shared, Saturday, September 23 from 4-6 p.m., fittingly held in the Little Theatre of Tuscarawas County, 446 Carrie Ave. NW, New Philadelphia.
Those unable to attend or wishing to share a fond memory may sign the online register book for Mark by visiting the “obituaries” link on the funeral home(TM)s website.
Mark(TM)s family asks that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Mark G. Mitchell Memorial Fund, payable at any area branch of Huntington National Bank.
The Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover has been entrusted with the arrangements.
