Born in Dover, Mark was the son of Jack D. and the late Sandra (Fisher) Shores of New Philadelphia. Mark is survived by his wife, Yuni Choi Shores of Warner Robins, GA; a daughter, Johonna Shores, and a son, Lucas Shores, both of Atlanta, GA. His mother, Sandra L. Shores, preceded him in death, and his maternal and paternal grandparents; Clayton & Ruth Fisher and Bill & Opal Swinderman. He is survived by his sister, Tammi (Robert) Everett of Dover, a niece, Tiffani Everett of Bolivar; his aunt, Sally (the late Lloyd) Herbert of Dover; his uncle, Randy Swinderman (Deborah Kinsey) of Garner, North Carolina, along with many cousins, other family members, and friends who dearly loved him.
After graduating from Dover High School in 1974, Mark graduated from The Ohio State University (1979), where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Labor Relations & Human Resources and his Master’s Degree from the University of Oklahoma (2001), in Human Relations.
Mark retired in 2014, after spending decades in the Civilian Division of the United States Air Force. He retired as Deputy Director of Personnel at Warner Robins Air Logistics Center and held other positions during his career in various locations worldwide. Mark loved spending time with his family and going on trips with them. Many always considered him the “life of the party”; he was always happy, joking, and never sweating the small stuff in life. Mark never met a stranger, his radiating personality would shine through, making them a friend almost instantly. He was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, enjoyed hiking the Appalachian Trail, and played golf until his illness prevented him. Mark was very close to many of his classmates from Dover High School, Class of 74, and will be forever remembered by many of them.
A celebration of life will be held at the Dover Moravian Church on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at 6:30 pm. Pastor John Wallace will be officiating the service.
