Marla Kaye Stilgenbauer

November 24, 1947 — November 15, 2018

Marla Kaye Stilgenbauer, age 70, of New Philadelphia, died Thursday, November 15, 2018, in Community Hospice’s Truman House from complications of Parkinson’s disease.

Born November 24, 1947, in Dennison, she was a daughter of Norma Jean Gross Renicker and the late Harry E. Renicker. Marla graduated from Midvale High School in 1966, and married her sweetheart, Thomas D. “Tom” Stilgenbauer, in New Philadelphia’s Holmes United Methodist Church, on April 17 of that year. She followed Tom’s dream of farming, and the couple were blessed with a child, Carol. Marla was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. When Tom and a friend started T & S Acoustics, Marla served for years as secretary and then vice-president. She later was employed by Buehler’s, New Philadelphia, holding many positions, but enjoyed the Hallmark counter the most.

Marla enjoyed bowling, NASCAR, was a Midvale Speedway fan, and she never passed up an opportunity to go shopping. She was happiest, though, being with Tom - whether it was at work, on the tractor, motorcycle or anywhere else - she was his partner.

In addition to her mother, Norma Jean, and her husband, Tom, Marla is survived by her daughter, Carol (Dan Robinson) Bryant; her grandson, Corey (Samantha Tate) Allen, of whom she was very proud; her siblings, Mark (Joy) Renicker and Joyce (Tom) Boitnott; her mother-in-law, Betty Stilgenbauer; Tom’s siblings, who were a significant part of her life; and her many nieces and nephews.

Besides her father, Harry, Marla was preceded in death by an infant brother, and her father-in-law, Ray R. Stilgenbauer.

In keeping with Marla’s wishes, she will be cremated, and there will no visitation or ceremony. To sign an online guestbook and share a fond memory, please visit the obituaries link on the Toland-Herzig website.

The family would like to acknowledge everyone at both Park Village and Community Hospice for all of their care and kindness - Thank You So Very Much!

It is suggested that contributions in Marla’s memory be made to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Ave. S.W., New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
