Marlen A. VonAllmen, 91, born on August 18, 1933, in New Philadelphia, Ohio, peacefully passed away on December 23, 2024, in Dover, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Paul and Hannah (Collins) Schoelles. A beloved member of her community, Marlen's life was defined by her dedication to her career and her passions.

Marlen graduated from New Philadelphia High School. 

She married Bill VonAllmen, who preceded her in death on September 12, 2013. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Paul Schoelles, and her sister, Helen Qua. 

Marlen had a distinguished career with the Department of Interior, National Park Service from which she retired in 1972. Her commitment to public service exemplified her deep appreciation for nature and conservation. Following her retirement, she also worked at the Frederick Church of the Brethren in Maryland, further highlighting her dedication to her community and faith.

Beyond her professional achievements, Marlen was a woman of diverse interests and talents. She deeply loved genealogy, investing time in tracing her roots and preserving family histories. Additionally, Marlen enjoyed poetry and crocheting, a skill through which she crafted beautiful pieces that family and friends cherished. She loved dogs and she enjoyed making pottery and had her own kiln at her home. 

She leaves behind her three nieces; Cindy Merrell, Mindy Bagshaw, and Jan Bierkortte, along with her neighbors and caregivers, Linda and Gary Miller.
