Marlene A. Immel, 78, a lifelong resident of Dover died Friday, July 19, 2013 in the Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia lovingly surrounded by her family following a brief illness.
Marlene retired from the Quality Farm & Fleet Store where she worked for 13 years. She had previously been employed by J.C. Penney's for 16 years and before that she worked at W.T. Grant and Barr Drug Store in Dover.
Born September 8, 1934 in Dover, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Florence Archinal Winkler. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Winkler, a sister, Elaine Bellerive Brokaw and a daughter in law, Wendy Houglan Immel.
She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ at Dover and also attended Newpointe Community Church near Dover. She was a 1952 graduate of Dover High School and was active in the American Business Women's Association where she previously served as Treasurer. She had many interests including ceramics, collecting bells and plates.
Marlene will be sadly missed by her family including her husband, Kenneth Immel with whom she celebrated 57 years of marriage this past January 1; three sons, Bruce Immel of Bolivar, Todd (Susan) Immel of New Philadelphia and Scott (Robin) Immel of Dover; four grandchildren, Erik, Miranda, Mackenzie, and Tanner Immel; a brother, Donald Winkler of Dover and a sister, Jean Zion of Salem, Ohio along with several nieces and nephews.
Marlene's life will be celebrated Tuesday, July 23, 2013 beginning at 11am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover with Pastor Dotty Hartzell officiating. Interment will be in the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover with a reception to follow in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard in Dover. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4-7pm.
