Mary A. Lacroix

Mary A. LaCroix, 76, of New Philadelphia died suddenly on Saturday, February 23, 2008 at Union Hospital.

She retired from Starlight Workshop in New Philadelphia after 21 years of service.

Born May 28, 1931 in New Philadelphia she was a daughter of the late Oscar and Magdalene Bichsel Homan. Her husband, Eugene "Gene" LaCroix who died on February 24, 1963; grandson, Bret LaCroix and two brothers, Robert and Daniel Homan, also preceded Mary in death.

She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in New Philadelphia. Mary enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians, taking long rides in the country looking for deer and taking trips to Mohican State Park. She also collected Precious Moments figurines. But her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.

A loving and devoted mother and grandmother, Mary will be sadly missed by her three sons, Robert (Deana) LaCroix, Michael (Lavonne) LaCroix and James (Carrie Howell) LaCroix all of New Philadelphia; daughter, Marla (Dwayne) Roberts of Tennessee; eight grandchildren, Brian Roberts, Tanya (Scott) Smith, Steve (Brittany), Tara, Lindsey and Andy LaCroix, Brandon and Matt Smith; six great grandchildren; brother, James Homan of New Philadelphia and her companion of 26 years, Burman C. Berndt of Dover.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes and Crematory at Dover with Pastor William Deist officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. Friends can call at the funeral home on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.
