Mary A. Stingel

Mary A. Stingel, age 89, of New Philadelphia, died Thursday, November 6, 2014, in Amberwood Manor, following a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Born August 24, 1925, in Dover, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Schull) Bertle. Mary attended St. Joseph School and married Delbert Stingel on August 30, 1947. The couple had two children and shared twelve years of marriage prior to Delbert's untimely passing on October 11, 1959. Mary was employed by the former Farmer Smith's Market in New Philadelphia for over twenty years.

She was a member of the New Philadelphia V.F.W. Auxiliary and Uhrichsville Ladies of the Moose. Mary enjoyed bus tours, playing cards with friends and family, and especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter, Debra Stingel of New Philadelphia; her son, Robert Stingel of Dover; her two grandchildren, Robbie (Jennifer) Stingel and Shawn (Bakie) Morgan; her four great-grandchildren, Chelsie and Natalie Stingel and Jesse and Kassidy Morgan.

In addition to her parents, and her husband, Delbert, Mary was preceded in death by her sister, Katherine Bertle, and by her brothers, John, Frank, Mike and Joseph Bertle.
