Mary Aschbacher

Mary Aschbacher, 95, passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2008 in Union Hospital in Dover following a sudden illness.

She was born on August 30, 1912 to the late Henry Elmer and Bertha Ellen Walterhouse. She married her husband, Duffy Aschbacher, on January 1, 1933. Duffy preceded her in death on October 4, 1991. She was also preceded in death by her infant son, Robert Dean Aschbacher.

She is survived by her two children; Dottie (Bob) Janson of Canton, Ohio, and Jim (Lynn) Aschbacher of Concord Twp, Ohio. She had seven grandchildren; Shari (Dave) George, Becki (David) Graff, Michael (Lori) Finley, all of New Philadelphia, and Chad, Benjamin, Lindsey and Whitney Aschbacher all of Concord Twp, Ohio. She also had five great grandchildren; Tiffini (Michael) Gaskill and Olivia Finley both of New Philadelphia, Ryan Bair of Dover and Brandon Bair of New Philadelphia, Ohio and Adam (Hollye) Bair of Alabama. She had two great- great granddaughters; Madison and McKenna Gaskill of New Philadelphia, Ohio.

Mary and Duffy were both employed at the Independent Towel Supply Company and later were both department managers for the Montgomery Ward Store in Dover. After their retirement, they moved to Beach City Ohio and ran a Flea Market in the old Garver Store in Strasburg, Ohio.

Mary was an avid sports fan, and faithfully watched the Cleveland Indians, Browns, and Cavaliers on TV.

At the time of her death, Mary was residing at Hennis Care Center in Dover, Ohio.

A celebration of Mary's life will take place at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory in Strasburg on Thursday, August 21, 2008 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Steve Woyen officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Union Cemetery in Strasburg. Following the service of committal, a meal will be prepared at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center, 831 Boulevard in Dover. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday, August 21, 2008 from 11:00-1:00 pm.
