Mary Edith Obermiller

Mary Edith Obermiller, 80, of Somerdale, Ohio passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Sunday, July 11, 2010 at Union Hospital in Dover.

Born on April 6, 1930, in Dover, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Armilla Maybaugh Weaver. She graduated from St. Joseph's High School in Dover. On February 23, 1952, she married James J. Obermiller. Together they had five children.

She retired from Bank One and the Tuscarawas County Treasurers Office after many years of service. She was a loving mother and homemaker who enjoyed family gatherings.

Mary was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending her time outdoors gardening, camping and traveling.

In addition to her husband, James, she is survived by five children; Judy (Jeff) Hibinger of Stone Creek, Joanne Obermiller (Ed Schumacher) of New Philadelphia, James (Karen) Obermiller of New Philadelphia, Jeff (Jill) Obermiller of Dover, Janice (Jim) Barkley of Uhrichsville; two brothers, Joe (Dolores) Weaver of Dover, and Sam (Jean) Weaver of New Philadelphia, her sister, Ruth (Jerry) Graef of Dover; her sister in law, Joanne Weaver of Dover; brother in law, Ralph Harder of Gaffney, SC; 13 grandchildren, Jill Myers (Mike DeMattio), Joe (Cassie) Hibinger, Jason (Wendy) Slabaugh, Jarrod Slabaugh, Jenna, Justine, Josh (Kelly) Obermiller, Jamie (Steve) Scott, Janelle Obermiller (Jerry Bell), Jeremy (Katelyn) Obermiller, Justin (Elizabeth) Stull, Jacob (Amanda) Stull, and Beth Barkley; seven great-grandchildren, Kyle Myers, Clayton Hibinger, Ashtyn Scott, Isabelle and Alex Stull, Ashlee Stull, Aidan Record along with many nieces and nephews and numerous friends.

Her brother, Edward Weaver; two sisters in-law; a niece and three nephews precede Mary in death.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover on Thursday, July 15, 2010 at 11:00 am with Father Matt Hoover officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Calvary Cemetery in Dover. Following the service of committal, a meal will be served at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 from 6-8pm. A Christian wake service will take place at 8:00.
