Mary Elizabeth Rossetti

Mary Elizabeth (Brogne) Rossetti, 104, passed away at New Dawn Health Care Center in Dover on Sunday, April 22, 2018.

Born on February 10, 1914 in Martinsville, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late John and Lena (Gatta) Brogne. On April 4, 1934, she married the love of her life, William Rossetti, who preceded her in death on January 30, 1962. She was also preceded in death by her sister; Sarah Saffell; son in-law, James Knecht; and three brothers, Frank, Ralph, and Homer Brogne.

She was a homemaker, but had worked at Canton Health Care, Bassetti’s Restaurant, Enameling Company in Canton, and Onesto Hotel. Mary was a member of both Sacred Heart Catholic Church and St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was also active with the Dover Senior Citizens. Mary enjoyed playing bingo. She will be remembered for her love of Hershey Bars, which she ate three bars every day. Above all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Mary will be sadly missed by her daughter; Mary Ann Elizabeth Knecht of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, James Knecht (Victoria Fishpaw) of Port Orange, Florida, Rod (Rebecca) Knecht of Tuscarawas; along with her great-grandchildren, Kelina and Casey Knecht of Port Washington, Alex (Beth) Knecht of Gnadenhutten, and Leah Knecht of Brooklyn, NY.

Friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Thursday, April 26, 2018 from 4-6pm. A rosary service will take place at 6:00pm.
