Longtime Dover resident Mary J. Dusenberry died peacefully in her home, while under the loving care of her daughter and son-in-law, Monday, August 31, 2009. She was 92.
Born April 19, 1917 at Canton, she was the daughter of the late John & Mary Comenali Olainosiu.
Mary retired from the Former Nichol's department store where she had worked from 20 years as a sales clerk.
She had a variety of interests and was seemingly always doing something with her hands. She excelled in crocheting and quilting, and was an avid gardener who loved tending to her flowers. She was a great cook who specialized in many old family dishes from Romania.
Mary liked to be on the go. She enjoyed traveling and always looked forward to weekend trips and getaways. She was also fond of camping.
She had a tremendous heart for her family especially an extended that included foster grandchildren for many years. She also cherished time spent with her friends. Reading kept Mary busy too, but nothing grabbed her attention more than her beloved Cleveland Indians. She never missed a pitch, and often had some pretty strong opinions about trades and other happenings with the team!
Her husband, James Wallace Dusenberry, died April 20, 1984. The two were happily married for 49 years.
Her surviving family members include: three daughters, Marilyn (Gordon) Hawk of East Sparta, Carol Walters and her companion "Chick" Dotts of New
Philadelphia, and Janet (Mike) Hershberger of Dover; two sons, Jim (Sharon) Dusenberry of Dover and Bob (Connie) Dusenberry of Strasburg; a sister, Ann Foley of Cleveland; 13 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.
Along with her parents and husband, 2 infant children and two brothers, George & John, preceded her in death.
Rev. Ray Ulrich will officiate a service that celebrates Mary's life on Thursday, September 3 at 11:00 a.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home &
Crematory, Dover. Burial will follow in the Dover Burial Park. Friends may call in the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m.
