Mary J. Sullie

Mary J. Sullie, 99, of Dover passed away Friday, June 13, 2003 in her home.

Born April 12, 1904 in Hungary, she was the daughter of the late John and Lena Kovacs Gyurgyovics.

Mary came to the United States with her family in 1912. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church at Dover for over 80 years and had been active in its Christian Mothers group. She was a loving mother who enjoyed spending time in her flower gardens and canning vegetables. In addition, she was marvelous in the kitchen and took great pride in preparing delicious meals.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Julius A. “Andy” Sullie, who died April 22, 1969.

Survivors include: a son; Carl (Virginia) Sullie of Dover, three daughters; Margaret Sullie of Dover, Joanne Sullie of Akron and Helen (Richard) Cheslock of New Philadlephia, three grandchildren; Laura (Jeff) Spray of Green, Michael Cheslock of Columbus and Brenda Cheslock of Strasburg, 3 great grandchildren; Scott, Kevin, Adam Spray, a sister; Peggy Paretti and brother Steve Gyurgyovics both of New York.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters, and an infant son, Paul.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover with Fr. William Arnold officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery at Dover. Friends may call in the funeral home on Tuesday one hour prior to services.
