Mary Jane Griffiths, 94 of Dover, Ohio passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 15, 2010 in her home.
Born on April 9th, 1916 in New Philadelphia, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Gustav Wasem and Laura (Reidenbaugh) Wasem.
Mary Jane most loved the farm where her family resided during her teen years in Strasburg. She graduated from Strasburg High School in 1933 and went on to Canton Actual Business College in Canton, Ohio. After graduation from college, she worked in secretarial positions at Old King Cole, Klingstedt Bro. Printers, and Everhard/Truscon Steel in Canton.
Mary Jane wed Herbert James Griffiths in 1947 and also worked with him in their own business compiling, printing and delivering city directories. They also built and owned a miniature golf course in Canton for several years. He preceded her in death in April of 1987.
After moving to Dover she was employed as a waitress at Cornett's Diner and for many years at the lunch counter at Woolworth's 5&10 in Dover. Most recently she had worked at Kreisher's Drug Store and then Peoples Drug as a clerk and Pharmacy Technician.
She is survived by: daughters, Susan (Donald) Terazzi of Midvale and Patricia (Preston) Perkins of Dover; grandchildren, Dana (Bryan) Cecil, Dennis (Fran) Terazzi, and Kevin Terazzi; great grandchildren: Rachelle, Derek and Seth Terazzi, Lily and Quynn Cecil Stepchildren: Jeanne Middleton of Malvern, Marian (Corky) Stahler of Midvale and James Griffiths of Canton; 12 step- grandchildren; many step-great grandchildren; and a step-son-in-law, Henry Derringer.
Mary Jane was a loving caregiver to all of her family, her pets and the wildlife around her home. All will sadly miss her.
Along with her parents and husband, Mary Jane was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Dorothy Derringer of Canal Fulton.
There will be no public services at her request, but the immediate family will celebrate her life at a memorial family picnic on Sunday, July 18th at the home.
