Mary J. Medley, 77, of Dover, died Saturday, May 14, 2005, in Union Hospital following a brief illness.
Born April 1, 1928, in Dover�(TM)s Ruslin Hills, Mary was the daughter of the late Jacob Phillip and Helen Flaim Zeigler.
She was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church at New Philadelphia.
Mary loved her family and always looked forward to spending time with her children and grandchildren. A true Green Thumb, she also enjoyed tending to her flowers �" especially violets, and often shared a start from one of her houseplants with a friend or member of the family.
In addition, Mary had a unique collection of salt and pepper shaker sets that she had put together over the years that number in the thousands.
On October 28, 1995, Mary lost the love of her life when her husband, Paul Medley, died.
Surviving family members include two daughters, Sandy (Jerry) Contini of New Philadelphia and Darlene (Bill) West of Dover; six grandchildren, Craig (Kelly) Contini, Eric and Tony Contini, Jennifer, Brandon and Sarah West; a great granddaughter, Gabriela Contini; a brother, Bill Zeigler; and a sister, Stella Smith.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Angela Contini; brothers Lester, Nelson Dale and George in addition to an infant brother; and sisters Gladys and Alice.
A ceremony celebrating Mary�(TM)s life will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park.
Following the burial, the family will receive guests at a luncheon held in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends may call in the funeral home on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m.
