Mary Lucinda Bair, 90, left for her heavenly home on Friday, August 2, 2013 in the Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia. She was a woman of faith who lived her life according to the Biblical Scriptures.
She loved art and was an accomplished painter, specializing in acrylics and oils. Mary Lou was also passionate about her cats, and winning ribbons for them in various shows was her delight. She owned and operated a heating and cooling business for a number of years and was later manager of a local retail store.
Mary Lou was a life-long member of the First United Methodist Church in Dover, was an active member of the former Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, worked with Cats N Us and was a 1941 graduate of Dover High School and was also a graduate of several business colleges.
Born July 16, 1923 in Dover she was a daughter of the late Vernon and Ina Buckohr Bair and was the great granddaughter of early Dover pioneers. Mary Lou was also preceded in death by her brother, Calvin Bair.
Mary Lou is survived by her sister in law, Alma Bair of Dover; niece, Valerie (William) Wenger of New Philadelphia; nephews, Vernon (Genevie) Bair of Dover, Victor (companion, Melody) Bair of Killbuck and Vinton Bair of Doylestown, many great nieces and nephews and her devoted feline companion, Pepper.
In keeping with Mary Lou's wishes, cremation will be entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover. A service celebrating Mary Lou's life will be held at a later date.
