Mary M. Jacobs, 99, of Massillon, and a former longtime Strasburg resident, died Sunday, September 3, 2006 following a brief illness.
She was born March 16, 1907 in Sycamore Valley, Ohio to the late Clyde and Sena (Marshall) Camden. She attended schools in Lebanon, Ohio. She married Harold C. Jacobs on July 17, 1934 and resided in the Warner, Ohio area before coming to Tuscarawas County in 1942. From 1950 to 1998, Mary lived in Strasburg. She would live in Sugarcreek for a short time before moving to Massillon where she had resided for the last several years. While in Warner, she was a member of the Warner Evangelist Church and the Warner Ladies Aide Society.
Mary�(TM)s family meant the world to her and she cherished spending time with family at reunions, birthday parties, and other special outings. She especially enjoyed being with her grandchildren. She had a great sense of adventure and was always willing to try something new. She was able to celebrate her 98th birthday watching live bands at The House of Blues and her 99th birthday was celebrated at Jacobs Field cheering on her favorite team, the Cleveland Indians.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jacobs was preceded in death by: her husband, Harold, who died April 21, 1981; a daughter, Ruth Ciesielczyk; son, Paul Jacobs; daughter-in-law, Glenna (Brittain) Jacobs; three sisters, Pearl Dillon, Dorothy Keevert, and Beulah Fleeman; and two brothers, John and Robert Camden.
Survivors include: three sons, LeRoy (Lenny) Jacobs of Massillon, Roger (Barbara) Jacobs of Massillon, and Kenneth Jacobs of Belleview, Florida; a daughter, Martha “Marti” Jacobs of Sugarcreek; a daughter-in-law, Aletha Jacobs of Dundee; and a sister, Wilma Thomas of Gahanna, Ohio. Other survivors include: 18 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service celebrating Mary�(TM)s life will be held Friday, September 8, at 11:00a.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Strasburg. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. Following the burial, a reception will be held for family and friends in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends may call in the funeral home on Thursday from 6-8 p.m.
