Mary M. Norris

Mary M. Norris, 98, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 11, 2000 at Country Club Retirement Center at Dover following an extended illness. Born in Keene, Coshocton County, Ohio on June 25, 1901 to Charles and Harriet Pew, she lived most of her life in the Dover/New Philadelphia area. She and her husband of 70 years enjoyed travelling and fishing. A homemaker, she was an active member and officer in Orange Chapter, OES in Leesville, having participated in the OES Grand Lodge of Ohio. She was a former member of Pythian Sisters in Sherrodsville and belonged to Bisel Methodist Church at Dover. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. Norris, who died in 1990, three brothers and three sisters. Surviving are a son, Charles A. Norris of Smithville; a daughter, Mrs. William H. (Mary) Eick of Brewster; four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours or funeral. A private graveside service will be held at Evergreen Burial Park in New Philadelphia with Rev. Donald Watson officiating. Memorials may be made in her name to Alzheimer's research.
