Mason Edward Mccarty

Mason Edward McCarty, 62, of Strasburg, died peacefully at his home, in the early morning hours on Monday, July 31, 2006.

Born August 24, 1943 at Charleston, WV, he was the son of the late Earl Mason & Rosie Schoolcraft McCarty.

Mason was a hard worker and spent more than 30 years as a truck driver. Most of that time was spent driving for the Praxair Company of Marietta. And although he worked hard, he certainly enjoyed his time off. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed, hunting, fishing, and camping.

He honorably served his country while stationed in Germany for the Army in the early 1960�(TM)s.

Mason was a member of the Wooster Highway Church of God at Dover.

On August 14, 1981, Mason wed his wife, Patricia Marcum McCarty, who survives.

Other surviving family members include: three sons, Kenneth (Robin) McCarty of Ellet, Ohio, Mason McCarty, Jr., of Akron, and Dennis (Goldie) Maynard of New Philadelphia; three daughters, Kimberly McCarty of Akron, Lelia (Mark) Roehrich of Freeport, and Tinia (Gary) Barber of Strasburg; his loving mother-in-law, Hazel Marcum of Barberton; seven grandchildren, Crystal, Michael, Jamie, Tiara, Brianna, Sean, and Jack; and an aunt, Mr. & Mrs. Lonnie Arthur of Bucyrus.

In addition to his parents, a sister and two brothers preceded Mason in death.

Pastor Chuck Rogers and Pastor Kenneth Yoder will officiate a funeral service that celebrates Mason�(TM)s life on Friday, August 4, at 1:00 p.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. Following the burial, a reception will be held in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends may call in the funeral home on Thursday from 6-9 p.m.
