Matthew C. Korintus, 58, of New Philadelphia died unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, October 3, 2021 from complications from Covid-19.
Matt was born on October 31, 1962 in Washington DC to Barbara Smith Bernard of New Philadelphia and the late Bruce Bernard. He was a proud Quaker, having graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1981; following his graduation, he served his country with the United States Air Force where he was stationed at Wurtsmith Air Force Base in Michigan. Matt’s greatest joy was supporting his daughter, Danielle –another proud Quaker- in all of her sports, marching band and indoor drumline competitions. He loved vacationing at the beach, and in his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf, softball and watching the Quakers and The Ohio State Buckeyes play football. Matt was currently employed at Deflecto in Dover and had previously worked at Allied Machine for 18 years.
In addition to his mother, Matt is also survived by his daughter, Danielle Korintus of Virginia; brothers, John Korintus of New Philadelphia, Brent (Christie) Bernard of Dayton; niece and nephew, Bailey and Brock Bernard; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will be greeting friends on Friday, October 8th from 4:30 to 6:30 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover. A service celebrating Matt’s life will begin at 6:30 pm on Friday with Rev. David St. Aubin officiating.
