Matthew Dale Morris, 19, of Somerdale, and a student at Ohio University in Athens died unexpectedly on Thursday, November 4, 2010.
Born on March 15, 1991 in Dover, he leaves behind his father; John and stepmother, Jodie Morris of New Philadelphia; along with his mother, Mary Pyle Morris and stepfather, Bob Meyer.
Matthew worked for Hick�(TM)s Roofing in New Philadelphia during the summer and also worked at the Crossroads Restaurant in Magnolia.
He graduated from Tusky Valley High School in 2009. He was a post-secondary student at Kent State University Tuscarawas Campus and was currently attending Ohio University where he was a sophomore majoring in sociology and criminology.
Matthew was a laid back, fun-loving, often goofy, young man who enjoyed riding his motorcycle and listening to 70�(TM)s music. Pink Floyd, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Led Zeppelin were some of his favorite artists. He also enjoyed listening to Phantom of the Opera. Through his love of gaming, he became friends with people from all around the world. He loved climbing the rock wall at Ohio University and playing racket ball and basketball.
In addition to his parents, Matthew leaves behind eight brothers and sisters; Chris (fiancé, Elena) Morris of Heath, Beth Martin of Millersburg, Nathan (Lindsay) Morris of Sandyville, Katie Morris of Somerdale, Rachael, Kimberly, Shirley and William Morris all of New Philadelphia, two nieces, Porsche Howard of Millersburg, and Dierdra Martin of Millersburg; two nephews, George Martin of Millersburg and Ryan Morris of Sandyville; his maternal grandmother, Ardis Pyle of Somerdale; paternal grandmother, Anna Hadorn of Dover; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Matthew was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather; William Morris; maternal grandfather, Dale Pyle and his aunt, Vicki Grewell.
A celebration of Matthew�(TM)s life will take place at New Pointe Community Church, 3950 St. Rt. 39 NW, Dover, Ohio 44622, on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at 11:00 am with Pastor Ted Knapp officiating. Burial will follow at New Cumberland Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the church on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 from 5-8 pm.
