Maxine H. Hawk, 89, of Dover died Saturday, January 31, 2015 in the New Dawn Retirement Community following a brief illness.
Born May 30, 1925 in Ragersville she was a daughter of the late Reuben J. and Bernice Stucky Dummermuth. Maxine was also preceded in death by an infant son, Bradley Hawk.
Maxine was a 1943 graduate of Sugarcreek-Shanesville High School and a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Dover where she was active with many different ladies circles within the church. But her passion and personal ministry was sending greeting cards to her family and friends.
A wonderful and loving wife, mother and grandmother, Maxine will be sadly missed by her husband of 69 years, William Hawk, whom she married on December 16, 1945; daughter, Wendy (John) Mady of Dover; granddaughter, Elizabeth Mady of Columbus and her aunt, Helen Glazer of New Philadelphia.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 4 at 1:30 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Rev. Thomas Dunkle officiating. Interment will be at the Dover Burial Park. Following the burial a luncheon will be held at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends can call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
