Melva L. Stallings, 91, of Dover died Tuesday, August 31, 2004 at New Dawn Retirement Center following an extended illness.
She retired in 1977 from Stallard�(TM)s Food Liner after 27 years of service.
Born December 22, 1912 in Ragersville, Ohio she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Alta Kerns Levengood.
Melva was a member of First United Methodist Church in Dover for 65 years, and also belonged to the WSCS and the Ruth Circle. She volunteered her time at the American Red Cross, Dover and Ragersville Historical Societies, Union Hospital Auxiliary and was a driver for Mobile Meals. Melva loved to play bridge and belonged to eight different clubs prior to her illness.
Melva was preceded in death by her husband Robert J. Stallings who died on June 2, 1994.
She is survived by a daughter, Beverly (Ronald) Bertle of Dover; son, William (Cheryle) Stallings of Dover; half sister, Laura Notz of Zoar; six grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, five nieces and three nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Jasper Levengood and a half brother, Lewis Levengood.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 3, 2004 at 2:00 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover with Rev. Larry Black officiating. Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dover. Friends can call at the funeral home on Friday one-hour prior to the service.
