Melvin L. "Skip" Swauger,69, of Dover was born on April 16, 1955, in Frostburg, Maryland, and passed away on August 23, 2024, in Dover, Ohio. He was the son of the late Melvin and Betty (Nine) Swauger.  

Skip served his country with distinction in the United States Marine Corps, a testament to his strength, courage, and commitment to protecting the freedoms we cherish. His military service instilled in him a sense of discipline and duty that he carried throughout his life. He was a member of the Dover Moose and Eagles for many years.  

He leaves behind three children: Regina (Rob) Contrael of Uhrichsville, Lee Swauger of Uhrichsville, Ohio, and Travis (Cresa) Swauger of Dover; his granddaughter, Kayla Contrael of Uhrichsville; his sister, Brenda Swauger (Fred Page); nephew Corey (Melina) Parker of New Philadelphia; great-niece Hazel Parker; his brother-in-law, Dan Hoagland; and his best friend, John Amos.  

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters; Gloria Lieser and Edith Hoagland; and his great-nephew, Gatlin Parker.
