Michael E. Kuecher

Michael E. Kuecher, 51, of Strasburg, Ohio died Thursday, December 3, 2009 in Aultman Hospital at Canton following a brief illness.

Mike was a schoolteacher at Tusky Valley thru the Buckeye Career Center and had taught at Fairless High School in Navarre. Mike also coached Strasburg boys eighth grade basketball for many years and was an assistant coach for the girl�(TM)s softball team at Strasburg.

Born January 25, 1958 in Dover, he was the son of James and Shirley (Gasser) Kuecher of Strasburg.

Mike was a member of St. John United Church of Christ at Strasburg. He was a 1976 graduate of Strasburg Franklin High School. He received his B.S. degree in Physical Education from Malone College and played basketball for the Pioneers. He enjoyed participating in 4H with his son, Drew. He loved sports, gardening, boating, and camping at Atwood Lake, and most of all working around the family farm. One of Mike�(TM)s most memorable moments was scoring 52 points at a high school basketball game his senior year.

In addition to his parents, Mike is survived by his wife Vicky (Smith) Kuecher with whom he celebrated 27 years of marriage on August 21; a son, Andrew “Drew” Kuecher, a Junior at Strasburg High School; a brother, Curt (wife, Marianne) Kuecher of Oregon, Ohio and a sister, Jennifer (husband, Chris) Reynolds of Navarre along with several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Mike�(TM)s life will be held Monday, December 7, 2009 at 11am in the St. John United Church of Christ in Strasburg with Rev. Gary Friend officiating. Interment will be in the Grandview Union Cemetery. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover on Sunday from 2-5pm.
