Michele L. Petty

Michele Lynn Petty, 53, of Berlin, Ohio went into the arms of our Lord on May 10, 2010 at her home following a 5-year battle with ovarian cancer.

Born in Piqua, Ohio on February 7, 1957 she was the daughter of Mary Ann Tate of Galion and Howard Mitchell Petty of Piqua.

Michele completed her formal education at Wright State and the Ohio College of Massotherapy. She had owned the Massage Therapy Clinic in Dover and New Philadelphia for many years. Michele had a deep passion for her work as a Licensed Massage Therapist, as well as, her love for hiking, painting, fishing, singing and going to the ocean. Her love of God was evident in all she said and did. Even through the battles of cancer, Michele never wavered in her faith and love of God. She touched so many people and was an inspiration to all.

Michele was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover and was also a member of the American Massage Therapy Association.

In addition to her mother and father, Michele will be deeply missed by her brother, Mitchell "Mick" (wife, Sandy) Petty of Mt. Gilead, Ohio; half brothers and sisters; nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles; her best friend and caregiver, Sandy Troyer with whom she resided and her canine companion, Mandie.

Her sister, Anne Mullan and a niece, Kaytlyn Mullen, preceded her in death.

A funeral mass will be held on Friday, May 14, 2010 at 10:30 am in the St. Joseph Catholic Church at Dover with Fr. Matt Hoover officiating. Interment will be in the Fletcher Cemetery at Fletcher, Ohio. Friends can call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes and Crematory at Dover on Thursday from 4-7 pm with Christian Wake services starting at 6:45 pm.
