Mildred L. Leatherman

Mildred L. Leatherman, 93, of New Philadelphia died Sunday evening, April 26, 2015 in her home.

Mildred and her husband Frank managed the former Children's home for girls in Dover.

Born June 14, 1921 in New Philadelphia, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late David and Vida (Bailey) Ball. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Frank Joseph Leatherman who died Sept. 1, 2001. In addition, she was preceded by a daughter, Helen Jean Arbogast; a son, Frank D. "Bud" Leatherman; a great grandson, Adam Woods and a sister, Louise Atkinson.

Mildred attended the First Church of the Nazarene in New Philadelphia and the Roxford United Methodist Church in Dennison. She loved to fish and enjoyed spending time at Leesville Lake and she and her husband Frank spent their winters in Zephyr Hills, Florida. She also loved playing cards, putting together puzzles and watching her favorite television shows Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. She especially loved spending time with her family.

She will be sadly missed by her family including her daughter in law, Linda (Lyman) Brokaw of New Philadelphia; her seven grandchildren, Mike (Linda) Hunsinger of Massillon, Brenda Woods of Akron, David (Kathy) Leatherman of Alabama, Daniel (Jim Bline) Leatherman of Columbus, Robin (John) Shultz of Dellroy, Tom (Amy) Leatherman of Navarre and Jenny (Jeremiah) Hamric of Virginia; ten great grandchildren, eight great great grandchildren and a sister, Roberta "Jackie" Beaber of North Canton.

A funeral service celebrating Mildred's life will be held Wednesday, April 29, 2015 beginning at 2pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover with Pastor Ron Heasley officiating. Interment will be in the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1-2pm.
