Millicent Marie Meininger

Millicent Marie Meininger, 83, of Hennis Care Centre, Dover, and a former resident of Columbia, went home to be with the Lord and be re-united with her loving husband of fifty-four years, Charles Meininger, on Monday, Jul. 7, 2008.

Born, Apr. 8, 1925, in Blaine, she was a daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Stipes Oberdick.. Millicent was employed for many years by the Twins Motel in Strasburg, and was a long-time member of St. John United Church of Christ in Strasburg.

She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her, especially for her warm hugs and kisses, and the heartfelt cards she sent. Millicent did not hesitate to remind her family and friends that, "God loves you!"

In addition to her parents and her husband, Charles, she was preceded in death by four brothers, John, Charles, Earl and Lawrence Oberdick.


Millicent is survived by a foster son and a foster daughter, Donald Hartman and Betty Hartman, both of Virginia; sisters-in-law, Mildred Oberdick of Bellaire, and Melba Hague of Wooster; nieces, Bonnie Brown of Tallmadge, Charlotte Stillabower of Bellaire, and Linda Foster of Fort Myers, FL; a nephew, Dale Hague; and other family members and dear friends.

A funeral service will be held Thursday (today), Jul. 10, at 11 a.m., in St. John United Church of Christ, with Rev. Gary R. Friend officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Union Cemetery, Strasburg. Refreshments will be served immediately following the service in the church hall.
