Miriam E. “Mim” Lightell, 78, of Walnut Creek, and formerly of Dover and Canton, entered her Eternal Home on Saturday, December 2, 2017.
She was born on January 26, 1939 in Sugarcreek to the late Melvin and Saloma Schlabach Troyer. Mim was also preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Lightell on May 4, 1985; sisters, Mary Troyer, Alta Miller, Mabel Troyer and brothers, Monroe and Les Troyer.
She was a graduate of Garaway High School and Prairie Bible College in Alberta, Canada. Mim attended Malone University and the Summer Institute of Linguistics at the University of Oklahoma. She retired from AT&T in 1994 after 25 years of service and was a long-time member of the Canton Baptist Temple.
Mim is survived by her sisters, Lydia Yoder of London, Ohio and Ina Yoder of Delaware, Ohio; and many nieces, nephews and friends whom she loved.
Focusing her life on Jesus was Mim’s goal. She authored the book, “A Lifetime of Memento” an autobiography in poetic form.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 6 at 11:00 am in the Canton Baptist Temple with Dr. Jake Tovissi officiating. Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery at Dover. Friends may call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover on Tuesday from 6-8 pm.
