Mona Dalene Walsh

Mona Dalene Walsh, cherished mother and grandmother, passed away at Hennis Care Centre of Dover on Tuesday, March 27, 2007.

She was born August 10, 1928 at Massillon, the daughter of the late Francis & Edna Mae Richardson Cope.

For ten years, Mona had worked as a teller for the former Home Savings & Loan, where she once foiled a robbery attempt by chasing down the robber! She went on to spend several years working as a clerk for the JC Penney store at what is now Canton Centre Mall.

Mona was one of a close-knit group who graduated from Beach City High School in 1946. She had a variety of interests including: decorating and taking care of the appearance of her home and landscape, staying active with her longtime card club friends, and she loved following the Cleveland Indians.

She was blessed with a family that meant the world to her. Surviving are: her daughter, Joy and her husband Alan of Bolivar; her son Mark and his wife Laurie, also of Bolivar; six grandchildren, Shawn, Natasha, Kory and his wife Heidi, Laikin, Lyndsi, and Tony and his wife Ileana; and three great grandchildren, Christian, Anthony, and Kiley.

In addition to family, faith was an important part of her life as well. Truths found in I. Corinthians 2:1-2, and John 6:37, favorite verses of her son Mark, typify her spiritual foundation.

In celebration of her life, the family will gather for a private video tribute and ceremony with burial following in South Lawn Cemetery at Beach City. Arrangements are being handled through the care of the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover.
