Myra Ann (Wolfe) Feller, 62 of Newcomerstown passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2013 following an extended illness.
Born on October 1, 1950 in Dennison, she was the daughter of the late Clayton "Pete" and Helen Viola (Warner) Wolfe. She is also preceded in death by her mother and father in-law, Donald and Phyllis (Dietrich) Feller.
Myra was a 1968 graduate of Claymont High School. In 1972 she graduated from Otterbein College where she majored in education. While in college, she played field hockey and basketball, was a member of the Women's Athletic Association and also served as the president of Theta Nu Sorority. She later received her Masters from Marygrove College.
She married the love of her life, and best friend, John Feller, on August 18, 1973. She began her teaching career in Newark, Ohio and later in Newcomerstown, where she taught Physical Education at both the high school and middle school. She began teaching Math in 1985 at New Philadelphia High School, where she retired in 2007 after over 32 years of teaching. During her career she coached basketball, volleyball, and track. She was a past president of the New Philadelphia Education Association (NPEA), a member of the Alpha Kappa Chapter of Alpha Kappa Gamma, and an involved member of the Farm Bureau. She was also an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Stone Creek and volunteered for the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life.
In addition to her husband, John, she will be sadly missed by her children; Brian Feller of Newcomerstown; Amy (Jason) George of Newcomerstown; two brothers, Frederick (Roberta) Wolfe of Palm Coast, FL, Tom (Eva) Wolfe of Westerville; her brother in-law, Ron (Mary) Feller of New Philadelphia along with several nieces, nephews and close friends.
A celebration of Myra's life will be held at the Zion Lutheran Church in Stone Creek on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 11:00 am with Dr. William C. Haggis officiating. Interment will take place at Stone Creek Cemetery. Following the service of committal, a meal will be served in the church fellowship hall. Friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 from 4-7 pm.
