Myrtle “Pauline” Crossan Skwara, 74, a longtime resident of Canton who has lived in Strasburg for the past three years, died peacefully in her home Wednesday, June 24, 2004 where she was surrounded by her family and friends.
Born May 18, 1930 at New Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Elmer & Myrtle Graham Renicker, Sr.
She was a devoted member of the Strasburg United Methodist Church where she had been active with the United Methodist Women.
Pauline had a “green thumb.” She loved gardening and tending to her flowers and plants. She also enjoyed traveling and had taken part in several one-day bus trips.
She was blessed to have loved and been married to two great men in her life. Her first husband, Kenneth R. Crossan passed away in 1988, while her second husband, Richard S. “Dick” Skwara, Jr. whom she wed on May 8, 1993, survives.
Other survivors include: three daughters, Linda Scott, Wilma Crossan and Sheila (David) Hobbs all of Canton; a son, Kenneth R. (Mary) Crossan II also of Canton, a step-son, Daniel Skwara of California, two step-daughters, Evelyn Grandtham of Texas and Dorothy Waritz of Washington; two brothers, Robert Renicker and Elmer “Bud” Renicker both of New Philadelphia; two sisters, Mildred Peacock of Orville and Dorothy (Alvin) Rusher of Massillon; eight grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and first husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Helen McCartney and two great grandchildren.
A funeral service that celebrates Pauline�(TM)s life will be conducted Monday, June 28, at 1:00 p.m. in the Strasburg United Methodist Church with Rev. Steven Court officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Canton. Friends are invited to call on Monday from noon until time of services at 1:00 p.m.
