Nancy A. (Kastor) Giumenti, 77, of Dover, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2017 at the Country Club Rehabilitation Campus in Dover.
Born July 10, 1939 in New Philadelphia, Nancy was the daughter of the late Albert and Anna Elizabeth Kastor. In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Gary L. Giumenti, on June 15, 2008. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, John, James and David Kastor.
Nancy moved at a young age to Dover and was a graduate of Dover High School. She was a longtime member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover. Nancy retired from Union Hospital after 25 years of service.
Nancy had a zest for life. She had an easy smile, a positive outlook, and a great sense of humor. She had many pastimes over the years, including gardening, sewing, baking, reading, and playing cards.
While she had many interests, family was the center of Nancy's life. She and Gary celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in July 2007, prior to his passing. She enjoyed sharing good food, stories, and much laughter with her children. She hosted many gatherings for family and friends, including an annual Christmas Eve party, summer cookouts, holiday feasts, and birthday parties.
Nancy especially cherished her five grandchildren. She loved them from head to toe, and their interests became her interests, whether it was sports, music, cosplay, academics, work, or just talking about life. She kept abreast of all of their comings and goings, providing encouragement, advice and hugs along the way.
Nancy will be sadly missed by her three sons, David Giumenti of Dover, Michael (Katie) Giumenti of Westerville, and James (Christine) Giumenti of Dover; her one daughter, Elisa (Dennis) Friedl of Walworth, NY; and her five grandchildren whom she adored, Edward, Lauren, Nicholas, Marshal, and Vincent. Nancy is also survived by one sister, Jane Gasser and her husband Allen of Dover, brother-in-law Charles Giumenti and Joyce Smith of Roswell, sisters-in-law Anita (Giumenti) Rice of Carrollton, Peggy Kastor of Conroe, TX, and Rosemary (Kastor) Zorzi of Dennison, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including Sue Sifferlin, whom Nancy considered a dear friend.
A funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, March 28, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Father Jimmy Hatfield officiating. Immediately following the Mass, there will be a meal to celebrate Nancy's life at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard, Dover. Private graveside services will be held later.
